Weekend Adventures

Some of you have been wondering how my birthday weekend went and I’m eager to report that it went great! My husband got our friends to babysit our son while we went out on a dinner date. It was nice to be able to spend time with my husband without worrying about my son getting irritable or spilling food everywhere. It has been a while since we have gone out to dinner without our active toddler. It helped us to focus more on each other. It was so romantic as we stared at each other longingly and took turns coughing. Yes, my husband is sick now too. How awful is that?

My husband got me several gifts, to include beautiful roses and a very much desired spa package. I love my husband. He’s great. My son also played a part in the gift giving. He handed me all of my gifts. Some of them were kind of heavy, so he had to use his little muscles to get them to me. You should have seen him trying to flex those future muscles!

Saturday, we spent time looking for my son birthday presents. In case you haven’t figured it out, I almost had a little boy for my birthday. His birthday is on the 15th. We call him our money baby because he was born on tax day. I was pretty disappointed when we came home because we didn’t find what we were looking for. We have a few days left though.

Sunday was a wonderful day. Besides, it was Easter. Jesus rose from the dead on Easter for our sins. How much better can it get than that? I’m so thankful that Jesus paid the price. What a wonderful gift He has given us!

We wrapped up Sunday by having dinner over our friends’ house after church. Their parents had come in town and cooked up a feast. Being a military family often takes you pretty far away from family, so it is always fun to hang out with the family of others. They made us feel so welcome and we thank God for them. We all left with full bellies and a plate to go. That was a good thing because I’m not quite sure when I’ll get back behind the stove.

I know one thing though…I’m going to have to pull a Paula Deen next time I cook.

It’s been over a week since I’ve cooked.

I know, I know.

I should be ashamed.

But I’ve been sick and even stay at home moms should get a cooking pass sometimes.

Let me go and get my grocery list together…

Wow, almost a baby on your birthday! That happened to my husband’s mother, she was in labor on her bday and had him the next day. What an amazing present :D

P.S. My ma LOVES that Paula Deen LOL, I always admire her eyelashes ;) she’s a real southern gal!
