Getting My House in Order

by Tonya on June 25, 2009

It’s spring-cleaning time.

I need to clean out the closets in my house. We still have winter clothes hanging up, taking up all of the space. Some of my son’s clothes are too little and need to be moved out of his drawers and closet.

I have multiple comforters, lamp covers, pillows, and other things that we have collected from living in four different homes over the past 6 years, stuffed in closets and under the beds.

What I really need to do is have a good ole yard sale.

Stuff that doesn’t sell can be packed up and given to Goodwill. I need to make space for new things and stop holding onto old stuff. It’s hard to navigate around clutter.

Which leads to my spiritual spring-cleaning. I’ve been doing well with my new resolution that I talked about last week with putting God at the beginning of my day. I get up at 7AM and spend time with God. I chose 7AM because that is a time that my son is still asleep 70% of the time.

For the first couple of days, I was doing really well and staying up after hanging out with God, but lately, I’ve been so tired and groggy that I went back to sleep for a power nap afterwards. I’ll get used to it and it would definitely help if I would get to bed before midnight. I like getting up early because you have more time in the day to get more things done.

My husband and I are starting back with our home bible studies. I’m looking forward to that. It’s time for me to get my house in order: physical and spiritual.

I’m making room for God to do some great things in my life. I’m letting go of old stuff and moving forward. No more clutter hampering my spiritual life.

What about you? How is your spring-cleaning going?

Happy Housewife is hosting a weekly summer cleaning de-cluttering challenge w/linkies. It's fun and motivational. You can post before and after pictures, or just write about what you accomplished that week. Her blog is happyhousewife.com. Link is also on my sidebar.
