Saving Big Bucks at CVS

by Tonya on July 7, 2009

Wondering how to stock up on household goods in an affordable manner?

Well, here is how you do it: use manufacturer coupons with store coupons.

Below is a picture of some things that I purchased yesterday.

I paid $8.14 for this stuff at CVS.

I know it sounds weird (CVS can have some of the highest prices out there). However, if you capitalize on their store sales, manufacturer coupons, and extra bucks, you can come out on top.

Here is how I did it:

CVS has a sale this week on Febreze Noticeables. I love to have a house that smells good, so I was all about this sale.

Febreze Noticeables cost $6.50 a piece at CVS this week.

I had a coupon for $4.00 off each Febreze Noticeables you purchase.

This takes the price down to $2.50 a piece.

CVS has a sale this week in which if you spend $10.00 on Febreze products, you will get $5.00 back in extra bucks. Extra bucks is money off your next purchase.

I purchased two Febreze Noticeables from CVS, which came to a total of $13.00. I had two $4.00 off coupons, which totaled $8.00. I ended up paying $5.00 for two Febreze Noticeables. At other stores, the price was $8.47 and above for only one.

But I’m not finished yet…

With the purchase of the Febreze Noticeables, I got $5.00 back in extra bucks. Which pretty much meant that my Febreze Noticeables were free.

See how that works?

In addition, I had a coupon for $1.00 off Tide products. CVS had a sale on Tide – $5.99 for 32 loads of liquid or 40 loads of powder. I took my extra bucks and purchased Tide, basically for free since with my manufacturer’s coupon, it was only $4.99.

The cool thing about CVS is in addition to extra bucks that you can receive, you often get more coupons, such as $4.00 off your next purchase of $20.00 or more. This can be combined with extra bucks, which can lead to even more savings.

There are a few other things that along with manufacturer coupons can generate great savings at CVS this week. They are as follows:

  • Oil of Olay Body Wash or body butter ribbons
  • Dawn Dish detergent
  • Colgate Total Toothpaste
  • Head and Shoulders Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Febreze Air Effects or Fabric Refresher

Check out your local CVS this week and save big!

It pays to be on top of things with coupons! Great job!

We don't have a CVS here we have COSTCO.

WOW! I was just about on my way out to get some household items and now I think I may go to CVS instead of my normal spot, Family Dollar.

I do not have any coupons but maybe they have some other stuff I need on sale anyway.

Thanks!

smooches,
Larie

Hmmm..I hardly EVER shop at CVS, but now I'll start looking for sales. Guess I'll start buying the newspaper.
