The name of my blog is Reflections from a Christian Mommy Writer. I bet some of you wondered how I came up with that. Well, here is the story.
I wanted my domain name to be similar to my blog name for name recognition purposes. Most of the names I wanted to use were already taken, so I started writing down things that I wanted to blog about and words to describe myself.
After a huge list of names, I finally ended up choosing Christian Mommy Writer, which is what I am.
A Christian.
A Mommy.
A Writer.
I’ve blogged extensively on Christian living.
I’ve blogged about my experiences with mommyhood.
But I haven’t blogged much about the writer side of Christian Mommy Writer.
I typically write 5 blog posts a week. I enjoy getting to “know” some of you and reading your comments.
I also complete writing assignments for the Christian Writer’s Guild (CWG), which are due every other week. Between blogging and my CWG assignments, I stay pretty busy. But there is more…
I am the Editor of a monthly newsletter for a Cancer Center, which I really enjoy. It is my way of giving back to the community and those affected by cancer.
In addition, I have a book that I’m working on. I put it down for a season, but I’ve received confirmation after confirmation that it is time to pick it back up again. I have to add it in my writing schedule. No more delays.

Let me share with you my praise report:
I recently found out that an article I wrote was accepted for publication in a magazine for its November issue. I’m very excited about it!
This was the first time that I ever sent in a query letter for a magazine and getting accepted on my first try was a great accomplishment. I’ll give you more details once it is printed.
There is so much more that I desire to do with my writing career, but there are only so many hours in a day. Besides, I am a stay-at-home mom and my first priority is taking good care of my son. I also have to spend time investing in my marriage with my husband and maintaining our household. I’m hoping to get more things for my writing career accomplished while my husband is deployed.
There are other wonderful things that are occurring with my writing career, but I will share more on that later. Gotta go spend time with my family.
Have a blessed day!

Congratulations on pitching and selling your article! That's a really big deal, especially if you don't already have a personal connection there. You should feel very proud. I've also heard really good things about the Christian Writers Guild although I've never been involved. Way to go, using your gifts while being a good Mommy too. I know it's hard sometimes to juggle things.
Can't wait to read your published article; I'm not surprised!
CMW, we definitely share a passion for writing.
I think what you do for the Cancer Center is beautiful!
I enjoyed reading more about you! It can be tough juggling marriage, kids and writing!
BTW, I love your new blog design! Very pretty!
Yaaaay for the published article! Please do give all the details when you can so that I can pick the magazine up!
Do you have a link or other information about the Cancer Center newsletter? Being a cancer survivor myself, I'd like to check it out.
Thanks.
smooches,
Larie

Congrats. That's awesome news! If you haven't already, you might want to reserve your writer name as a domain for the day when you're a best-selling author and want to put up a website.
Aww that is so great! I love what you said that you are a wife and mom first! I hope to be a write someday as well, but it's good to remember that family always comes first! Good luck, and looking forward to reading your article!
@Stephanie – Thanks for the tip. I'm actually looking into that.
@Kathryn – Yep, family has to come first. They are my main investment. All other things can come later.
Congratulations! You must be so excited. Let us know where to look for it when it gets close to time.
Oh how exciting! It was good to learn a little about you too! You are in my prayers for your writing adventures!
It's awesome that you're finding so many opportunities to nurture your creativity while managing the very busy task of taking care of a two year old!
Congrats on your article! Enjoy your SITS day!!
I think it's wonderful that you are pursuing your writing. I keep trying to encourage a friend of mine that is wants to write a book. She's having writer's block a bit at the moment. Maybe I should tell her to diversify her writing a bit and the book will come along with it.
Wish you continued success!
Happy SITS Day!
I think writing is an excellent way to spend your time while your husband is deployed.

Congratulations!! What an accomplishment, to have your query letter accepted on the first time. I have been mulling over the idea of trying to have an article published but have no clue where to begin. What size magazine to target, what subject to write on… I've read books but it's still a big mystery to me.
Happy SITS day and good luck!
