It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to relate so well to the message of a book.
When I read this book, I felt like I was sitting down at a coffee shop, having a discussion with each of the contributing writers. I found myself talking to them, saying things like, “That happened to you too?” Or saying, “I struggled with that issue a lot.” I was immediately drawn in and couldn’t put this book down.
What book am I referring to?
Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives by Jocelyn Green.
This book is a compilation of devotions designed to help military wives cope with deployments. The devotions are written by 15 military wives from each branch of service.
The book is set up so that you will read one devotion a day and reflect on it throughout the day. Kinda like an Our Daily Bread book, but focused on military life. I must admit, however, that I cheated and read several devotions a day…sometimes because I needed it and other times because I couldn’t put the book down.
My husband has been deployed for several months now and I wish I would have started reading this book on Day 1 of the deployment. I strongly recommend this book to other military wives, even if they aren’t dealing with a deployment right now.

I've always felt sad for people who simply say they're "not readers". The support these kinds of books offer through their words, to me, is irreplaceable, especially during a time when we are so busy just living, we are apt to otherwise ignore our needs. Books are always just a reach away. I am glad you are finding good ones to help you during this deployment, especially, which can also be a time of rich, personal growth and reflection. God bless.
