What I Don’t Take for Granted This Christmas

Posted by Christian Mommy Writer on December 23, 2009 in Christmas, Military Life |

If you are a military spouse, you realize what a gift it is to have your spouse home during the holidays. This year makes the first Christmas that my husband and I have been apart during the 8 years that we have been together.

I don’t want to ever take for granted his being with me on special occasions. You never know when a Deployment or TDY (military business trip) will sneak in and rob you of quality time.

When he returns, I’ll be a lot more grateful for all of the things that he does to make our household happy!

I also don’t want to take for granted the presence of my extended family members. I’ve had some key family members to pass away over the past three years. While the holidays can bring sadness for some, I choose to remember all of the good times I’ve had with them over the holidays. I didn’t always have that viewpoint, but with time, God has healed my heart so that I could progress to that point.

And last but not least, I don’t want to take for granted the precious gift of being a mommy. It will be so nice this year to see our son open his gifts and play with his toys. What a blessing!

So what about you? What do you not want to take for granted this Christmas?
