Child Leashes at the Airport

by Tonya on January 4, 2010

Happy Monday Everyone!

Remember the post that I wrote back in November called, Would You Use One of These? It was a post about using a Child Leash Safety Harness. If you haven’t read that post, you can go ahead and read it.

I’ll wait for you….

Well, I finally used the Child Leash Safety Harness for my air travel over the Christmas Holidays and let me tell you…

It was a LIFESAVER!!

Having my son on a child leash safety harness was the only way that I could maneuver two rolling luggages, carry two backpacks (my back is still mad at me), and keep up with him.

The nice thing about it was that my son actually liked it! I was so surprised. He didn’t resist at all when I put it on him. And I had to put it on and take it off him several times for the security checkpoint, getting on the plane, getting off the plane, going to the bathroom, etc…

We aren’t even going to talk about the nightmare that the security checkpoint could have been. All I’m going to say is that the trusty puppy dog leash kept him from running through the metal detector prematurely…

Moral of the story…If you have a little Dora the Explorer or a little Diego that loves to go, and you have to travel in highly populated areas, try a Child Leash Safety Harness.

It’s totally worth it!

@mommy4life – Thanks! I'm glad it worked out too.

@Julie – I agree with you about them having their place. I don't think you need to use one to go to the grocery store to get a gallon of milk, but in certain situations, like the one I was in, it was totally worth it.

Have a great day ladies!

Glad to hear it did well for you!
We used ours a few times and my kids also loved it.
Infact they now argue over who gets to wear it when they are playing mommy.

A friend of mine has a daughter who has impaired vision. The daughter had one for her daughter for reasons of safety. They didn't have a car and walked to get to the places they could. And a preschooler is apt to go where he or she wants to without thinking of danger.

Until I saw this on the little girl, I thought they were cruel. But after thinking on the issue, I decided the protection was necessary.
