Welcome Home!

My husband has returned from deployment and we have all been so happy!

The week leading up to his return was super hectic.  I had to make sure that everything was right.  My to do list was longer than Santa’s Christmas List.

The week before my husband got back, I started showing our son pictures of his Dad on a daily basis. I also showed him videos of his Dad in hopes that it would help the reunion go smoother.

I spent several days doing a thorough cleaning of the house.

I washed and ironed clothes.

I decided that I was going to make my son a t-shirt to wear for his Dad’s return.  I put on it the picture that he and his Dad took together on the day of his Dad’s deployment.

Here’s a picture of him with the shirt on.

My son and I spent the morning of my husband’s return decorating the house.  It was so much fun!  My son was so excited about the decorations, especially the balloons.

It was such a beautiful day!  The sun was shining brightly.  It was a perfect expression of my feelings on that day.

Words can’t accurately express how I felt when I finally saw my husband.  It was a combination of joy and relief.

Joy – Happiness in having my husband and best friend back home.
Relief – That he made it home safely and that my son has his Dad back.

After a short briefing and retrieving all of my husband’s bags, we went out to eat.  The rest of the afternoon was spent celebrating Christmas.

Remember how I said I spent all that time cleaning?  Well now, just a few days later, the house is junky again, with tons of my husband’s stuff all over the place from his deployment.

The hamper is full and smelly.  Boots and camos have taken over the laundry room.

But it’s okay.

I’m just glad to have my husband back home, safe, and sound.
