Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of

by Tonya on February 8, 2010

I never was a big football fan. I just watched it whenever everyone else did. I enjoyed seeing people get so passionate about their favorite teams.

In high school, I was in Marching Band, so I pretty much knew the basics of football…enough to know what a touchdown is and a field goal.

When my husband deployed last fall, I sometimes found myself bored and lonely. I started flipping channels and often, a football game would be on TV. I started watching it because I heard about the New Orleans Saints being undefeated.

I love to root for the underdog and if they weren’t underdogs, I don’t know what an underdog is!

Overcoming Hurricane Katrina, a football team that has never been to the Super Bowl, need I say more? Who wouldn’t get behind them in support in their run to the Super Bowl?

The Saints eventually suffered their first loss and struggled a couple of games after that, but they got their rhythm back. They kept fighting and didn’t give up, making it all the way to their first ever Super Bowl. But even then, no one expected them to succeed.

The odds were stacked up against them. The Colts had experience on their side. On the day of the Super Bowl, only one commentator out of four predicted the Saints to win, and that person predicted them to win only by a small margin. As a matter of fact, the other commentators laughed at the commentator that was rooting for the Saints.

I’m sure you know the outcome of the game by now. The Saints overcame a 10 point deficit in the first quarter and beat the Colts, 31-17. The quarterback of the Saints, Drew Brees said, “We believed in ourselves. God is Great. It was all meant to be. It’s all destiny.”

Whatever your dream is, reach for it. For all things are possible for those who believe. Never give up.

The Saints’s story is one that dreams are made of. What are your dreams? What are you doing to make them a reality today?

I was so happy to see the Saints won the Super Bowl, although I also like the Colts. The Saints had a super season and really deserved to win! I love that the "official" commentators were wrong. Just goes to show you, that's why the games are played. Congratulations to New Orleans and the Saints!

This game meant so much to our state and I'm SO proud to say I am a New Orleanian. Our boys did us proud and God gave us the lift we so deeply needed.

Have A Beautiful Day :)

I don't think there were many people out there who weren't happy for the Saints! Did you see Drew holding his baby boy? Soooooo cute!

I too am not a huge Superbowl fan but I had my brother over yesterday to watch the game. It was definitely inspirational and very well deserved.

haha I have a random question for you! I am making that loaded baked potato soup that you posted about a few weeks ago, tomorrow. I am wondering how you baked the potatoes? How do you bake them then peel them? Or other way around? Or should I peel and slice them and then boil them. How did you do it? Thanks so much!

It was an awesome game! I'm a huge football fan & was rooting for the Saints while my hubby cheered on the Colts.

We had quite the battle in our home!LOL!

You are so right & I want to thank you for the reminder. My dream of writing a book seems so far off that I constantly put of writing everyday & opt for the quick fix (via my blogs).

I definitely have felt prompted to be diligent in pursuing my dreams.

THANKS!

"Congrats on your awards! :-)
I look forward to seeing your upcoming posts. I'll keep your family lifted up in prayer during your time of bereavement. Have a great day!"

Thanks! And thanks for the prayers we really appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip with the soup, I was thinking I should boil it instead, but I figured I should ask anyways!! I can't wait to try it!

That was such a great game and I don't care if the Cowboys think they are America's Team. I think the Saints are this year!
