Celebrating the One Who Created the Earth on Earth Day

by Tonya on April 22, 2011

Many people are celebrating Earth Day today. It just happened to fall on Good Friday this year. And that’s okay.

But today, I choose to celebrate the One who created the heavens AND the earth! He paid a debt that he did not owe for you and me! I’m so thankful for His unconditional love, grace and mercy!

Who am I talking about?

Jesus Christ, the savior of the world! He, who was without sin, bore all of our sins and was crucified on a cross. But that’s not the end of the story. He rose again on the third day, defeating death, hell and the grave!

Last year, I wrote a post called, “What Easter Means to Me.” In that post, I took a look at my past experiences with Easter and how it gained meaning to me as my relationship with Jesus Christ grew.

This year, I would like to highlight a few posts I came across though Twitter and my trusty Google Reader:

Julie Arduini – “What’s So Good about Good Friday?”

Alisa Hope Wagner – “Forsaken”

Bible Gateway Blog – “Easter is Coming”

Kennisha Hill – “More Than Big Hats and Fancy Dresses”

Check these posts out. They will bless you!

I pray that you will find hope, comfort, and peace in knowing that Jesus Christ thinks you are worth dying for. May your relationship with Him grow more and more every day!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you… 1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV

I too am celebrating Jesus death on the cross for our sins. Thankfully Sunday we will be celebrating his rising.
